How to Update the Galaxy Note 5 via Over-The-Air (OTA)

The Over The Air (OTA) update requires you to connect your Galaxy Note 5 to a Wi-Fi network to avoid high data charges. Ensure that your device battery is recharged before performing the software  update. The phone must not have been rooted or otherwise the update may fail or it may cause a fatal error. You must fully unroot your Galaxy Note5 first before performing the software update.

• From the device Home screen, simply touch Apps.


• Touch the Settings (gear icon).


• Touch the System tab.


• Touch About device.


• Touch Software update.


• Touch Check for updates. It will then prompts you to the new software update.


• Lastly, touch the Install button, then OK.

Update your Galaxy Note 5 using your computer via Smart Switch PC

This method is always handy on some part, especially if you have missed the update and you’re left behind to the update’s scheduled dates that usually only took place and runs in weeks. You can still easily update your Galaxy Note 5 using your PC or Mac. All you need is a USB cable and then the Smart Switch firmware update tool. Verizon is sending out an OTA update dubbed as build version N920VVRS3BQB1 for the Galaxy Note5 devices. Noting that this phone receives frequent updates in a monthly basis just to bring the Android security patch updates. And yet another month comes around and so does the security patch will level up to February 2017.

A new update is heading  to Australia's Samsung Galaxy Note 5  (SM-N920I). Verizon Galaxy Note 5 Updates to version N920VVRU3BPJ3

There is another update hitting on Verizon Galaxy Note 5 this week. The update is dubbed as build version MMB29K.N920VVRU3BPJ3 and it's still base in Android Marshmallow. However, the latter brings the latest security patches as well as optimizes the device performance, and resolve known issues, according to Verizon. So, it seems that its a minor OTA update only and there is no any other major impact to the device.

Since the previous update has brought us the September Android security patches, so there is no doubt that this update will now also brings the security patches for the month of October. Then the November security updates might be held available before December end.

In addition, there are still no credible reports to when the Android Nougat updates will arrive on the Galaxy Note 5.
